Peaceful Pit Stop: Old Sheldon Church Ruins

To say I'm exhausted from this weekend is a major understatement.
I basically have no voice and 2 swollen ankles/feet.
Rather than re-hash the craziness right now, I thought I would share a quick stop we made on our way to Tybee.
When K and I visited Beaufort last month, I was hoping we would get a chance to see the Old Sheldon Church Ruins.  We were planning to stop by, but it ended up pouring and we weren't able to do it during that trip.
Leaving Charleston last Thursday it occurred to me that I would actually be driving right past the road off Hwy 17.  I made sure my copilot was okay with a quick detour (she was) and I was able to get a few beautiful pictures.

It's literally 2 minutes off of Highway 17 so if you find yourself heading towards Savannah I'll say it's a "must see".  There are picnic tables all around and I think it would be the perfect Roadtrip lunch stop.
Here is some history.
Have you ever visited the Old Sheldon Church Ruins?

  1. I vaguely remember seeing these as a kid. After seeing your pictures I definitely think a trip as an adult is a must :)

  2. Hey Sara! It definitely is worth a trip, be sure to bring a lunch or make a day visit to Beaufort afterwards because it doesn't take but 15 minutes to walk the entire grounds. xoxo Laura
