Blah Blah Blog

So, not a whole lot happening around these parts recently...
Hence the sort of blah blog as of late.
Our nights consist typically of gym after work, Special Report with Brett Baier at 6, cooking dinner to eat around 7:30,
and then channel surfing or reading until bedtime around 10.
So there you have it!
Weekends have also been beautifully low key,
with not much to show for those either...
But I do have a few snaps of the haps!

This Tuesday was my investment club meeting.  After 3 years as part of the group, I feel like I am really understanding things, which is fantastic!
--
I am going to visit my girl Abby in Philly this summer,
and I'm getting excited about it.
I have never been and I can not wait for this view she posted from friend's rooftop:
--
My mom and I went consigning a couple weeks ago and I found this purse in the corner of a place on James Island that I can't remember the name!  I can't find online either but it's across from Gold's Gym and it had the neatest things!  I think this bag is Kate Spade circa 1998 but it's still in great condition and perfect for summer.  Ten dollars well spent!

And here's what's cooking at our house.
Every now and again we plan a mid-week date night for a little variety.
The baked fish we tried was Gorton's Smart and Crunchy filets.
They were just glorified fishsticks, not complaining!

Friday, you're so close I can taste you!
(tastes like pepperoni)

Friday Highfive

TGIF one and all!
This week has been cah-razy at work.  I've been in training meetings all day every day and I'm so excited to be on to the weekend!
Here's a highfive for making it through the week!
--
My little stinky had his annual vaccines and check up at the vet last Saturday.
I gave him extra rubs because he was such a good boy.  He loves to lay on his back and bask in his couch potato spoiled-ness.
--
Last weekend we tried out a new Thai restaurant on JI and all I can say is that it was not good.  It came recommended but I will never go back. Bad.
As is obvious, it's where the Cafe Kronic coffee bar used to be.
--
Wednesday night I volunteered at OLM's annual Golf Tournament at Briar's Creek.  It was a gorgeous afternoon and the event was such a success as usual. This year I was actually the bartender.  Luckily it was beer and wine only.  Cheesin' it up for ya:
Looking over the 9th green as the event wrapped:

Last, our community pool opens today and I'm hoping that our Sunday will be spent relaxing there.

Have a great weekend!

Friday Highfive!

Happy Friday!
Here's a highfive for getting through the week!
--
Any leftover meat in our house is reinvented into tacos or nachos.  We always have salsa, chips, and cheese on hand.
These buffalo chicken nachos from Monday were delicious!
Just pop into the oven until cheese is melted.  Boom.
 --
Tuesday was James Island's Gold's Gym Member Appreciation Event.  I put my name in the raffle on my way in and after my Body Combat class I saw that I had won!  I received a pass to Wild Blue Ropes.
 --
I found this "Skinny Water" at Dollar Tree and it's pretty good, better than Vitamin water for sure.  Not a big fan of the skinny name, but still.
 --
This photobooth strip is from The Smith in the East Village on our honeymoon.
It makes me smile.
 --
Last, who is ready for a cold beer?  Nothing better on a Friday afternoon.
This is the Bricklayer's Red by Tradesmen Brewing.  Cheers!

Hope y'all have a fantastic weekend!

Snaps of the Haps

I am feeling revived and refreshed this Monday morning, how are y'all?
Friday night our pizza plans were foiled because I have never in my life see Paisano's more crowded!
We walked next door to Smoky Oak and they had a 30 minute wait.
What is going on James Island??
Perhaps the spring fever has everyone out and about.
I, for one, was very happy to wear sandals!
I bought these from the most adorable shoe store that is no more,
Susan Michelle.  Does anyone remember her store on King Street?
 --
On Saturday I am somewhat ashamed to admit that I did not change out of my pajamas until close to 2:00 pm.  I watched a Sex and the City marathon and it was glorious.  I managed to pull myself together and go for a run before our date night.
I was excited to get dolled up for a night on the town.  I bought this dress a while back for a rehearsal dinner and it was the perfect night for a repeat.  I got the dress from Nordstrom, but I first saw it over on Ally's blog.
The back is best part.  It's completely backless but I use the fashion clip that I blogged about here to keep it a little more appropriate for my figure.

We went to Basil, it was fantastic!
Here is our best date night selfie.
--
On Sunday we had plans to take our boo out on the town.
Even though it was overcast we decided on the beach.

We couldn't help but swing into the Barrel on our way.
I'm so glad we did because we got to play with a baby pygmy goat.
He was so sweet!

It was a lovely afternoon, followed with crockpot buffalo chicken and G.O.T.
Anyone else watch?

Tell me, how was your weekend?

Friday Highfive

Hey now, it's Friiiiiday!
I hope y'all have a wonderful weekend...
Here's a highfive for making it through the week!
--
My car is so disgusting y'all, you can write in the pollen.
I tried to take a picture of my TGIF message but the reflection of the trees in my windshield make it hard to see.  Still a neat picture though, right?
On my weekend agenda: Carwash.
 --
I am head over heels for this BCBG maxi.
I just can't stop thinking about it!
The price, however...not a fan.
--
Keeping with a tropical vibe, I am still researching and planning a fall vacation for me and my man.
Here's to hoping massages on the beach are in our future.
;)
--
Did you know that you can rent baby chicks for Easter?
I did not know this was a thing until K told me that his parents did it for him when he was a little boy.  I think it's the sweetest idea!  James Island True Value is obviously on board.
--
I have not been as excited for a weekend in a loooong time.
Lots of snuggling on the couch and enjoying the weather with these babes, good food, and...
Game of Thrones!
(This is an old photo. I'm rallying for K's beard to go.)

What are y'all up to?

Humpity Hump!

Well hello, long time no blog!

I hope that everyone had a fantastic Easter Weekend.
Ours was such a blur.  I mean, Is it Friday yet?
I have been working weekends lately and I can honestly say that this is the FIRST weekend of 2015 where I have absolutely no where to be...No obligations or commitments and I am so excited I can barely stand it.
Lately I've been living by a stopwatch.  How many minutes until I have to start getting for work? How many hours until I have to wake up?  Blah.
So anyway, here are a few things on my radar lately...
The latest issue of Garden and Gun features a story on 'Perfect Southern Things'. The article is in list form and contains different contributors' and readers' input...things like sweet tea, joggling boards, and the examples shown on the cover above.
I was thinking that if I were to submit anything, it would be these two:
Collecting Pecans:  One of my distinct childhood memories is gathering pecans off the ground in my Uncle's yard in Riverland Terrace.  We would collect grocery bags full of them!
Sidenote: I wonder if pecan trees add property value?
My other "fave southern thing" would be catching fiddler crabs with my dad.
Fiddler crabs are used as bait in sheepshead fishing and we would wander through the marsh filling buckets with crabs.
It was a game to see who could find the biggest.
This is one of my favorite childhood memories growing up on the coast.
What would be on your list?
--
I don't know why, but I really enjoy finding mistakes in books.
I guess it makes me feel smart?  I doubt I would enjoy the job of book editor, it would get mind numbing after a while.  Recently I found two pretty obvious mistakes in Save the Date by Mary Kay Andrews:
photoraphs
whie wine
--
Here's what on the menu at the Nielson house this week.
Note: The sweet and sour meatballs are a recipe I saw on Pioneer Woman this past Saturday.  One of my favorite lazy Saturday activities is to have coffee in bed while watching Food Network.
Also, I spelled sandwiches wrong.
--
Oh hey, check out my Easter nails!
That's a wrap!

So what's up with you?
