Lately

I figured I should catch up with the rest of our March before we move in to April!  This has felt like a long month that has flown by.  We have a busy April this year so it seemed to drag, but also I can't believe tomorrow is the first!

Here goes...

St. Patrick's Day celebrations...A silly leprechaun visited our house and left golden footprints down the hall.  Then, he used our potty!  We also made green rice krispie treats.

We love our library!  Getting excited to check out the Summer Reading program this year...
--

Our front yard projects are coming along...I still have a couple of hedges to cut back, but otherwise I'm happy with our progress (especially considering our two "helpers")

I just got in the Limewash I ordered so I'm hoping to get started with that on Saturday.
--
Back to Church!
--
PAUSE for a stomach bug that took all 4 Nielsons down for 48 hours :((((
--
EB made these cute little Easter flower treats with my mom.  She brought them for her school friends yesterday.
--
Read this last weekend...it was good!
--
Well check for Miss MB.  I was talking with the doctor about how this phase is just my favorite.  I find everything they do to be so entertaining from 18 mo until... it's a 'sweet spot' for sure.
--
This morning I let EB play hooky and we went to the Alhambra Hall Easter Egg Hunt.  EB was a little overwhelmed by all the people, and also confused why none of the eggs were hidden, but little sis had a good time.
That brings you up to speed on our March...
Peace!

My Favorite Charleston Thrift Stores

Thrift shopping has always been one of my very favorite hobbies.  I think one of the first places I drove after getting my learners permit (after Folly of course) was Goodwill.  I just love the idea of bringing a $10 bill and coming home with unique things.  I also love supporting local causes.  I think I've gotten even better at it since having kids, and I have found some awesome things for them as well.  I decided to make a quick list of my favorite thrift shops because I think these are hidden gems.  Though I should add the disclaimer that not all on my list are in Charleston, but within a short drive.

Second Chance Thrift Shop:

I think this is connected to a church in Summerville.  It is a curated thrift shop and you can tell the ladies who volunteer there enjoy doing it.  Nothing I've found was priced over $5 and they have a little children's area in the back where the girls enjoy looking at toys.

Oddly enough, my second pick is also called "Second Chance", but this one is more focused on home decor than clothing.   It's sales benefit Charleston Animal Society.  I have my eye on a gorgeous light fixture that I'm hoping they eventually lower the price.  Just last week, I picked up these cute brand new Keds for 3 bucks.  Perfect for Spring!

For this one you'll have to drive a bit out to downtown Ravenel.
This is owned and run by a very nice family that use proceeds to give back to community members in need via a raffle each week.  How awesome is that?  They have a "boutique" section in the front of the store and I have found some nice things for pennies.

I have visited the majority of thrift stores in the area and these are my favorite to browse!
That's all folks...

Lately

Happy Monday!
I'm starting to feel the onset of Spring fever.  And while COVID is still putting a stop on my annual Spring Favorites (St Patrick's Day parade, CofC alumni weekend) there are still fun plans ahead.
So here's what's been going on...
This was the second weekend in a row with birthday parties!
--
I have used this ground chicken for meatballs and burgers and it is delicious.  I buy it at Harris Teeter:

We have had our share of rainy days recently...
This is a rainy day survival trick that I learned through Naptime kitchen: Popsicle Baths!
We do bath time around 6, but on rainy days that seem to never end, I can pop them in early with a popsicle and it will carry me through til K gets home.
--
This weekend we are starting our "Curb Appeal Project" which means Front Yard.
We are finishing up some landscaping, casing in our wrought iron column,  lime-washing our exterior stone, and replacing the front porch furniture.  Of course we won't be finishing it all at once, but my parents are coming over to help us kick it off.  I have been on FB Marketplace looking for a patio loveseat, which is what I have in mind for the porch.  I found this one for $100 but I think the furniture needs to be the last step.
--
I am very excited about the return of my main man.

--
EB and I went and had manicures last weekend.  She is all about playing dress up these days.  Definitely going to find some pretend clothes and accessories for her Easter basket.
--
That's all for now.
