We took a three day weekend and I'm finally feeling rested, but still in a rush to make it down to the Neighborhood House. Saturday's Hallowine was a complete success--there was a lot of wine left over, and well, I drank it. I'm dragging a bit to tell you the truth so you'll have to wait for a better weekend update.
We are already getting the questions "What do you want for your birthday?" (Me: Dec 1, K: Dec 18) and "What do you want for Christmas?" I never have any ideas ready but I'm always planning what I will give far in advance. Hopefully none of you lovely ladies in my life who I plan on exchanging gifts with are reading because here is my plan:

Is it really time to make plans for going out for Halloween? Yes! It's next weekend!
Last year we went to Taco Boy. It was an awesome party, way way crowded! My large group somehow secured a good spot right beside the bar, in a corner tucked away from people traffic. Otherwise the night would have been a lot different (i.e. claustrophobic and unable to move).

I make all of my costumes with thrift and fabric store finds, no costume-in-a-bag for this girl!

I love a glass of wine on a cool afternoon. It's romantic, and a welcome change from my usual frosted mug of beer. My favorite wine is Savignon Blanc.
Blah blah blah, let me get to my point. I'm building quite the collection of corks and I've been bookmarking and brainstorming creative ways to craft them!
I think I would like to make this wreath heart shaped. K will love it! haha
As a "candle holder"... I think this is a cute idea, and I could play around with different shaped vases.

This baseboard looks a bit more involved, but pretty dang awesome. I would prefer to do this as crown moulding!

Here are a couple of my collage creations! The camera flash kept messing them up so just rest assured that the quality is much richer in person. They are poster sized.
I've thought before about trying to set up a collage making "class" (if you could even call it that) at an art gallery or perhaps at a community education center. Would anyone come to this? Feedback is appreciated!!

I would consider myself a creative girl, I'd actually consider it to be one of my biggest strengths. One of my favorite creative mediums is collage. It's a therapeutic, simple way to release my feelings and thoughts, and then I'm left with something to hang on my wall! I have probably 5 or 6 collages around my house and office, and I love the artistic flair it brings to my decor scheme.
I created this one below with K as my inspiration.
It's poster-sized. I seal it with modgepodge and done!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Yesterday, on the treadmill, I was reading about how to make a decorative statement in a room for under $50. To some this may seem a challenge, but to me it's just what I do. When I first bought my place I knew that I wanted to switch out light fixtures and hardware on a dime. I focused on the light over the dining room table. I visited lighting stores and fell in love with thousand dollar chandeliers. I spent an entire month at Lowe's and Home Depot trying to find unique lighting, but it all just looked the same. Finally, one day in World Market, I found the prettiest paper lanterns at less that $10 each. I bought a couple with hopes they would work with the hanging bulb we already had. And they did. These lanterns create the prettiest soft glow of light. And the prices are unbeatable. You can actually change them on a whim, literal mood lighting! I found this Lilly Pulitzer lantern in Floaters for under $10. It's perfect for the bright months of summer!
