Friday Highfive

Hey hey Friday!  Here's a highfive for making it through the week.

{1}

I leave tomorrow morning for a quick trip to Charlotte with my mom.  Dinner and A Show!  Can't wait.  Pray for K as he will be parenting all 3 solo for the first time.

I gotta be honest, I just might watch this.  I have completely lost interest in The Bachelor as it's become a means to a social media career and nothing more.  Maybe this one will be different??  I do wish the guy was slightly younger, I think he's in his 70's.

I say it every year but I'll mention again...the Summer Reading program at CCPL is a fantastic way to get out and about without spending money!  With 3 kids, things add up quickly so we have taken full advantage of our prizes.

--
Date Night!!!!
We had the calamari at Amen Street (the best) and drinks at Rooftop.

--
Two favorite weeknight meals.
K's- Beef Stroganoff with stew meat, not ground beef.  It's pure comfort food.
Mine-  Taco salads.  Top with salsa and some crushed tortilla chips, Delish!

Have a great weekend!

Friday Highfive

Happy Friday!  Here is a highfive for making it through the week.

This post is brought to you by....Summer Camp!!!!
The girls have been down at a camp this week that runs 9-3 which is the MOST CHILDCARE I have had since MB was born.  I know they have been long days for little sis but she has hung in there and I so appreciate the break.

Thrift Tip:  Picture Frames!
I have found some of my favorite frames ever at thrift stores...not just for photos, but consider artwork frames as well.

The Mr. Baby is almost O N E!!
At 11 months old, J has 2 bottom teeth and 4 coming in at once on top (ouch).  He has been sleeping through the night since around 8 months, but still occasionally wakes up and gets a bottle at night.  I ended my "nursing journey" around 8 months also, which has definitely helped establish a better routine.  His favorite food is pouches (lol) and anything his sisters give him.  He loves to dance to Baby Shark, army crawl, and flirt with the ladies.  He DOES NOT like having his diaper changed or getting dressed.  He's a fun guy and we all love him so much!

Went to a public info meeting regarding a new park coming to our neighborhood.  This one will have a crabbing dock and a picnic pavillion.

I feel like it's always a milestone to move from diaper bag to slightly smaller purse.  I made my final transition and it feels good.  Still need the crossbody, but this bag feels downright dainty to compared to what I've been lugging around.

Have a great weekend!

Summer Celebrations

A few special memories from our Summer so far...

I took EB to pick out a charm bracelet for her kindergarden graduation gift.  It was so fun!
She chose a heart and a ballerina holding a pearl.

--
MB is FOUR!!!
And that calls for a trip to Claire's.
She requested pizza and strawberry cake that night, so that's what we had.
As you can see, she is the queen of dress up...
So it was so crazy when she refused to wear her special dress at the little tea party we had with a few friends...
But they still had fun.  I did milk in the teacups and let them each spoon in some nesquick powder.  So cute.

Fourth of July!
We hung around the house, trying not to melt.
K grilled these delicious peppers as an appetizer, so good.  Just cream cheese, bacon, and some shredded cheddar.

And we made home made peach icecream, which was delish!  We've decided this is our new 4th of July tradition.

We have had a really nice Summer so far, it has gone quick!  I want to take the kids to a water park, but otherwise I'm trying to keep our calendar as clear as possible to savor these last few weeks.

Family Vacation to Tybee Island

We had a great time on our beach vacation down on Tybee Island, GA!  I'm going to share a bit about our trip and recommendations...

WHERE TO STAY:

First things first, we loved our VRBO.
Great location, great size...The architecture and design made us feel like we were at a spa resort.  It was fabulous.  We booked it for the private pool and let me tell you, it was a gamechanger.  Especially when I think back to our trip to Anna Maria Island two years ago.  We spent hours each afternoon out there with the kids, and then enjoyed evenings with a cold drink.
--
WHAT TO DO:
As I mentioned, the house we rented really made the trip for us, so we spent a lot of time enjoying ourselves there.  But here are a few other things we did that I would recommend for families.

Of course, The Beach!  We walked with the wagon and the kids loved it.  I hadn't taken them to the beach yet this year because I wanted it to be exciting and fresh on our trip.

--

Arcade
I wish I knew the name of this place, but it's on the corner of the main little "Tybee Strip".  We just stumbled upon it while on a family walk, and the girls loved it, especially the candy claw game.
--
Tybee Lighthouse.  Daddy and MB made it to the top!
A must visit in my opinion.

--
Souvenier Shopping!  Lots of beach shops and the girls enjoyed getting to spend their vacation money.

--
WHERE TO EAT:
We cooked several meals at the beach house, but we did venture out as well.

The Sugar Shack
Surprise surprise, this was the girl's favorite.
--
Wet Willies
Not a restaurant but Kevin and I enjoyed thinking of the good old days down on East Bay, sipping a Call-A-Cab.
--
IGA Grocery
As I mentioned, we cooked a good bit.  We grabbed crab cakes from the seafood shop.  They were tasty!
--
Pier 16
The grilled jerk chicken sandwich was awesome!  Sitting outside is a must.

--
The Deck
This place overlooks the beach, you can walk right up.  And everyone was so friendly.  I think this was K and I's favorite meal out.

--
To-Go Food- We enjoyed RAW Sushi Bar and Lighthouse Pizza.

--

FINAL THOUGHTS
As I've said, the house and pool where we stayed really made our trip.  It's hard to come from Charleston and not compare, but I will say that a lot of Tybee seems pretty run down.  We found some gems by researching, but there was a good bit of dinge.  For that reason, I don't think we would return for an entire week, but I would 100% recommend a weekend away at this lovely home.  The pool is heated so even in the off season, it would be awesome.  We really enjoyed our time together as a family.  The baby did so well (Thank you, slumberpod!) and I know the girls made some great memories.  K and I really did feel relaxed and reconnected, and also exhausted...

So, where to next year?
