Friends at Work?
One of my best friends works for Charleston Florist. She sent some arrangements left over from an event to me at my work, to spruce up our office. It's these sorts of interactions that make me happiest in a job, getting to connect with people, and specifically my friends. Friendships are so wonderful in general, but being able to leverage them professionally is the icing on top. Thanks Kristina!

The Weekend...and TGIF
TGIF y'all! Tonight maybe some takeout and the Olympics Opening? I'm so happy to have a houseguest this weekend! My best friend Abby will be in town and we're planning to enjoy dinner at Five Loaves on Cannon and then check out some of the new bars on King tomorrow night. We graduated CofC in 2008 and upper King has absolutely exploded since then. My favorite addition, that I've tried, is the Belmont. I'm looking forward to seeing what else is going on up there.
But before I start this weekend, here's an update on what happened last weekend.
Unfortunately I did not get any pictures from dinner at Fulton on Friday night, but it was delicious as always.
The band at our family reunion was really fun. I love it when bluegrass bands cover "Constant Sorrow" from "Oh Brother Where Art Though". What a good tune.
I included this photo because I had my hair done on Saturday. I was in the chair for SO long, probably won't schedule on my day off again, but I'm happy with the color! Here I am at Gene's shortly after having it done.
We had fun time goofing off the arcade before the Dark Knight on Saturday night. I was happy that the first person I saw in the theatre was a police officer and I didn't feel nervous at all. I must confess: one of my favorite parts of James Island is our old school theatre. I've been going here since I was a baby and honestly, I think I'll cry when they ultimately decide to build a newer version.
We ended the weekend with a cold one on Shem after a family birthday dinner in Mt. P.
Ok so now, let's do it all over again!
See y'all next week.

I am Hollywood
A couple of years ago I had my debut as a "movie star" at my previous job. This training video was so much fun to make and we had a blast "premiering" it at our All Hands Meeting. While I am happy to have moved on, I have fond memories of my first job after college. The video is long, but both the beginning and ending are worth watching.
P.S. Weekend update is coming..I'm just so busy this week!

Sweeeeet Summertime
Oh, hello! Here are a couple of new favorites:
Snyder's Mesquite BBQ Potato Crisps and Shiner Ruby Redbird beer. I don't know why, but bbqchips just taste like summer to me. I imagine these are similar to the popular "Popchips".
This beer is fresh and CRISP y'all. It makes me wish I was hot and sweaty right now so it could refresh me. I definitely recommend it.
Also, here is an inspiration shot of my next DIY project. Aren't these shorts darling?
And super simple too.
I'm so happy it's Friday. I have a jam packed weekend on the horizon. Tomorrow night, Fulton Five for a much needed treat. Saturday is my hair appointment annnnd the LeaMond family reunion (with a live Bluegrass band what what!). And Sunday I'd like to catch the new Dark Knight flick and maybe spend some time doing...nothing.

The Weekend
Friday night we went to the Riverdog's Game. I was so happy with the 82' temp and the nice breeze, the fireworks, and not to mention our second row seats.
What a great view behind the stadium.
I ordered the footlong corndog and there just wasn't enough crunch for me. But dang, that's a long dog!
I couldn't get a better shot, but the fireworks were great, as usual!
We checked out a new-to-us bar called the Stono Breeze over on John's Island Saturday night for sunset. It was a fun spot!
Sunday night was our homemade pizza party!
Hawaiian
Greek
Buffalo Chicken
Now, back to the grind. I have to admit though, Mondays aren't so bad considering it's my gym day off AND the Bachelorette.
P.S. I'm learning so much about the car industry and I'm loving it!

Dear Folly,
My dear Folly Beach,
I can't believe how popular you have become within the past 10 years! I remember, in highschool, before Bert's burnt to the ground, before I had to pay for parking... Remember then? It was young love for me and you, my first sips of beer while relaxing on your sand, my first heartbreak tears among your waves. But alas you have grown too crowded and hence drinking is prohibited now. I'm not a fan of dealing with your constant beach patrol. I will remember the way we were, but I'm moving on....
To Sullivan's.
And my heart has always belonged to Sullivan's, if you must know. I grew up sliding on refrigerator boxes down the big hill, running hand in hand among the forts. My dad grew up on Sullivan's, only recently was the family home sold. (devastating).
When the time comes that K and I have a photoshoot of our own, it will most certainly involve Sullivan's Island groins. K holding me just like so, and the love of many generations of both our families.
Folly, it's not you, it's me. And I'm moving on.
Love,
Laura

Lately...
It's been such a whirlwind the past couple of weeks. Here are some photos:
Fourth of July cookout!
K suprised me with flowers on my first day at Lexus.
I've been craving powdered donuts for a while and finally picked some up. Yum.
Date Night at Carter's Kitchen
Crazy girl!
We took the boat over to Beresford Creek.
I love life!

Tomorrow is a BIG DAY...
Tomorrow I start my new job.
I guess it's ironic that this Independence Day truly is my last "independent" day for some time.
But it's a good thing.
When I left my previous job I was in dire need of a change of pace, and I found that working from home as a freelance PR contractor.
I was able to volunteer and work out and finish numerous home projects. I cooked and cleaned and crafted. I hosted parties, took vacations, and really had the time to celebrate the holidays (martha stewart style).
And as time has flown by the last 9 months, I've been searching for my next adventure. I've missed the routine and productivity of heading to the office. I've missed the structure and fulfillment of full-time work.
All in all, it's been bittersweet.
But tomorrow I start my new job as Executive Assistant to the General Manager at Lexus of Charleston.
And it's a good thing!
Wish me luck ;)

Hello July!
Well well well, it's been yet another busy week over here...
These hydrangeas came from the yard.
I made Pioneer Woman's corn casserole for a retirement luncheon. Yum.
Ladies Night!
Oh man, too.much.cuteness.
We decided to cross something off the bucket list, go to the top of the round Holiday Inn. Both K and I are native Charlestonians and yet we've never been. And well, the view was great. But once you get over that, which takes about 5 minutes, it's just a Holiday Inn bar. (P.S. I've always thought this looks like a large sunglass rack. Yes?)
I need to learn the art of a self portrait, but isn't it a nice view?
Hey hey it's July! What's up!
