Friday Highfive

 Happy Friday!!!!!

Here is a highfive for making it through the week...

{1}

We treasure our visits with great grandparents.

--
{2}
I made this tasty little pasta as a side to some salmon K grilled last weekend.  It combined grilled corn and tomatoes, store bought alfredo, and rotini pasta.  I think this would be great as a main dish with sauteed shrimp.

--
{3}
Loving my beach days with John.  If you hit the tides right, there is a great gully on 4th block on Folly.

--
{4}
I visited a new stylist who cleaned up my color and gave me some fun 90's layers.  I needed a little boost and it's the perfect subtle new look.
--
{5}
We had a taste of Summer temps last Saturday and the girls set up a lemonade stand to cool off.

Have a great weekend!

Friday Highfive

 Hellooooo, Friday!  This week was Spring Break here in Charleston.  So I'd say we deserve a big highfive for making it through some loooong days...

--

{1}

St. Patrick's Day Parade!

We walked as a family with the girls' school this year.  I have to say, I prefer to watch, but we still had a good time.

--
{2}
Another fun school event, the "Birthday Bash" carnival.  This was such a great event that I would LOVE to see become an annual thing.

{3}
Easter 2024

{4}
Spring Breakers!
Let's see...we have done strawberry picking, Splash Pad, Outslide In..,but I think all three kids would say their highlight was THE BEACH!!
--
{5}
Last night I went to see a lecture given by Dr. Emily Weinstein regarding her book, "Behind Their Screens".  I have mentioned before my strong opinions surrounding children and social media so this was something I was very excited about.  The session was very informative, geared more towards the parents of teens.  But I am eager to learn as much as I can NOW to prepare.  Kind of weird taking a photo given the topic, but here ya go!

Have a great weekend!

2024 So Far...

 Other than our snow tubing trip, I haven't shared much of the haps around here over the last couple of months.

So let's see...

To start off the New Year, the Mr. Baby had some resolutions.  First up, Get to walkin'.  So I took him up to Kassis Brothers to get fitted for his first pair of boots!  He has taken off at full speed.    My other goal, merging to one good nap, has been more difficult but we are getting there.

--
A few things about this pic: First off, I have hardly any photos of me with all three so this is special.  Second, The S&S waiting room is probably the only place in Charleston that hasn't changed ONE BIT in the last 30 years.  And third, there is a reason we don't take the kids out to eat anymore and it's because of the aformentioned walking situation, J never stops moving!
--
J is a mountain man!  He loved exploring the Elk River, and trying to eat all of the pebbles.

--
J is also a beach boy!  He TOOK OFF into the ocean down at Folly a couple weeks ago.

We all loved the warm winter beach day...
--
Date Night!  First off, these orange silk pants were a recent thrift SCORE.
And second, our date night plans are *gasp* starting to shift.  Since we met we've enjoyed drinks downtown followed by dinner somewhere new, and often night caps (idealy in a cigar bar).  The past few times we've been out we haven't felt the same vibe in doing those things.  Both times we each agreed we would have enjoyed Hometeam or Mexican more than the downtown scene.  Oh Lawd, we're getting old!!!!!!  I just don't have any interest in being around all the tourists or the "who's who".  Though we do want to continue or annual Holiday night on the town, we'll be sticking to neighborhood favorites from now on.
--
Valentine's Day!  Balloons were a fun surprise for the girls.
Spent the morning at the school class parties.  So much fun.
Basil take out for Mom and Dad:
--
We wrapped up cheer season last Sunday with an awesome win.  The girls had a pep rally this morning and I can't wait to hear about it.
--
That's what's been going on.  I've also been working on Summer plans.  I've got the girls in a cheer camp and a tennis camp and we'll be joining a nearby pool that's been highly recommended.  We've also finalized our travel plans and we are going....
Back to Tybee!

Snow Tubing at Hawks Nest

We recently spent a great long weekend up in the Banner Elk, NC area.  I wanted to share the highlight of our trip:  Snow Tubing at Hawks Nest
It was such a fun family activity!  There were probably 25 or so lanes of tubing, all different levels.  We spent our time on the beginner runs but would love to do the bigger ones once the kids are older.   Everyone had a great time, though little brother wasn't able to participate this year.  Ages 3+
They have a moving sidewalk type lift that takes you back up to the top, KEY with little ones.

I would highly recommend Hawks Nest for families with kids that might not be ready for skiing.  It's was a great little winter getaway.

Holiday Recap 2023

 I'm not ready to say goodbye to the holidays just yet! We'll have the decorations up through the weekend and bid a festive farewell on Sunday.  I'm really savoring the last few days of the season, because it was such a good one this year.  While we had several rainy weekends, stir crazy kids, and lingering colds for all, it was still such a fantastic month of celebration.

My holiday night out with my best girls was SO much fun.

--
EB and I's third annual Nutcracker date.  This year was extra special because we got to see Emma as the sweetest purple friend in the opening scene!

--
This was the third annual Holiday Cheer night in our neighborhood, where we have hot chocolate and carriage rides to see the lights.  This has become a really special tradition and a night we look forward to all year.

--
MB's Christmas Program was so wonderful.  She was the sweetest singing angel, wearing a dress of mine from the 90s.
I am so proud of this girl of mine.  She's sugar and spice and so much fun.
--
We celebrated K's birthday with steak and a special bottle of wine.  I made this black and white to really set the ambience.

--
SANTA!
  I can't believe EB sat for this picture.  She hasn't even wanted to walk past Santa the last few years, let alone TALK to him.  They all did so great and I love the photo we got.  This was the first year of "The Charleston Santa" down at the Best Friend Train museum.  I was very impressed with the whole experience.  Afterwards we went to the Elf Emporium at the Children's Museum where each of the girls' bought presents for eachother <3

--
Holiday manicures
--
Christmas Eve dinner.  We have lasagna at my in laws.
--
Christmas morning!!
--
We had a little New Year's Eve get together this year.  A little too much fun but definitely worth it!

--
Happy New Year!!!!
