Friday Highfive

I hope y'all had a great week,
Here is a highfive for making it to Friday!
{1}
I couldn't help myself when I saw Zullily's One Day Family PJ Sale.  K draws the line with matching pajamas, but EB and I are going to have so much fun twinning this December.  Now, to find a teeny tiny version for her baby doll.

I have seen similar earrings to these in boutiques for much higher prices.  I love supporting local businesses, but ONLY for unique and "local" finds.  Wal-mart's new Time and Tru brand has some cute, cheap stuff...I bought these.
--
{3}
I inherited my grandparents' coffee table this week and I love love love it in our Living Room.  It's hard to see in this photo but it holds shells and gemstones collected throughout the years.
--

This may not be the most appetizing picture, but it's a darn good healthy meal!
I've talked about salmon croquettes on here before, and this "recipe" resulted in not having an egg on planned salmon night.  So I simply sauteed the salmon and put it over this quinoa and kale blend and topped with sriracha. K said he prefers this to my salmon cakes. Well, Hot diggity, a happy accident!

It's going to be a super dreary day/night here in Charleston and I can't think of a better plan...
We are going to order a pizza + rent "A Quiet Place"
This is my idea of a perfect October Friday night!

Hope y'all have a great weekend!

Our Weekend

We had a nice and quiet weekend, much needed after a busy few weeks.
--
Takeout on Friday- per usual.
--
On Saturday I took EB and Alf down the street to Trunk or Treat.  They were so cute as a little mermaid and baby shark.
--
On Sunday we went to church and had my parents over for dinner.  We had a bonfire to celebrate the Fall weather's arrival!
--
Yesterday I took EB to Summerville's Scarecrow on the Square.  This is one of my favorite Halloween activities:
Would you just look at her lil outfit?!
Lots of Fall fun happening around here!

Oktoberfest 2018

Here a few snaps from our church's Oktoberfest this year.
It was a fun day with family and friends, and German food and beer!
Prost!

Upon closer inspection, 'Honey, I shrunk the K!'

What a difference a year can make.  Here's the link to last year's post.

House Tour: Den

It's about time I share some photos from our Den aka Family Room aka Play Room.  Whatever you want to call it...this is the room we LIVE in...which means it looks LIVED IN!  Let me show you...
--
This room is open to our kitchen, with a large high top island which is primarily where K and I eat dinner after EB is in bed. (On weekends we have family meals in our Dining Room.)  The french doors open up to our patio and backyard.
Here is a view from the French doors.  This couch is where we have our morning coffee, where we congregate when K is home from work, where we hang when we have friends over, etc.  It is well loved and looks it!
And this is the view from sitting on the couch.  These built-ins were hard for me to "style".  I have surrendered them to EB's toys and plan to add some of her framed artwork soon, as well as more family photos, on the top shelf.  These shelves will certainly grow with our family...One plan I have is to add chairs to create a homework area down the road.
Two chairs would fit perfect here to create desk space...right now it's a parking zone for rolling toys.
These baskets are perfect for a quick clean-up:

This room feels like the heart of our home and I hope shows!
It's comfy and cozy and kind of a mess, but we love it!

EBN is TWO

This past Sunday we had our special 2 year old's birthday party! It was a fun afternoon in the backyard.  Here are some snaps:

EB's Mama gave her the jump castle for her Birthday.  It was such a hit with the kids and super easy set up.  I totally recommend this and I know we will be getting lots of use in years to come!
The queen in her castle.  She had SO much fun playing with friends...it was impossible to get a picture without her moving.

My mom made the cupcakes, they were delicious!  We kept the food simple with Papa John's pizza (I did square cut for more of a flatbread vibe) and salad.

Some Friends and Family, most of which not pictured.
I said it last year, and will again... Having a photographer for these parties would be so great.  I never manage to pick up my phone.

It was a great afternoon and I know EB felt how special she is!!

P.S.  Happy Birthday Meme!!! EB's party was on my mom's actual birthday, but I'm glad we were able to celebrate before.  We love you!

Colorado Trip 2018

We are getting back into the groove after our trip to Colorado and I want to share some photos!
 --
Our first night, we had reservations to see Steve Trevino at Comedy Works downtown Denver.  It was SUCH a fun show and we both loved his humor (it was centered around parenting young children and marriage).  Also, NO POLITICS which was a breath of fresh air.
We had dinner al fresco on Larimer Square...Fall weather at last!
The food at Osteria Marco was delicious.  I highly recommend their seasonal bruschetta.
 Drinks at Union Lodge No.1
We did some shopping in downtown Denver, 16th Street Mall was a neat area to stroll.  We picked up a book for EB to add to our souvenir collection.
A really nice lady in one of the shops recommended a day trip out to Idaho Springs and Echo Lake, so that's what we did.
 Cutest old timey mountain town:
It was hard not to stop at all of the scenic overlooks because they were all so beautiful.  But this one was perfect because you can see some of the Aspen foliage.

We had a special dinner at Guard and Grace, a new hot spot steakhouse downtown Denver.  It was very delicious and very rich:
This is tied with the comedy show for our favorite part of the trip:

Lunch with a view at Mt. Princeton Resort:
These are just the highlights!  Let me tell you, we just barely scratched the surface on all of the beauty of the Rocky Mountains.  We hope to return in the winter for skiing some day.
--
Not pictured:
We stayed at Hotel Teatro which was beautiful and convenient downtown...we loved grabbing a drink downstairs at The Nickel.
We had breakfast one morning at Sam's No 3 and it was a super cool diner! Two thumbs up.
We also had dinner at the bar at Tamayo and enjoyed it...try the Carne Asada!
--
Also not pictured:
K and I reenacting Planes, Trains, and Automobiles in order to reach our final destination.
Denver Airport Hell!
--
That's a wrap on our Colorado Vacation.
Hope y'all are having a great week.
Hey Hey, October!
