Misc. Monday

I picked up this dress on clearance ($11!) over the weekend.  It's hard to see but the skirt is pleated and there is a little weight at the neck to keep the cowl in place.  The color reminds me of a seashell!
I absolutely LOVE having an alliterative name, I just love the way it sounds.
Look what I saw this weekend:
:)

So, K and I have the basic six count down of the Shag, but I'm really thinking we need to go for some advanced lessons.  I still trip up around spins and turns and end up feeling a bit robotic.  Anyone know of shag lessons around town?  I took them down at the Folly Beach Shag Club in middle school but that spot is now known as "Taco Boy" so no dice going there!  K learned in cotillion I think?

I spent a few hours at the pool this weekend.
This picture makes me want to go back...
Cheers to that!

TGIF!

I did the Stair stepper for the first time at the gym this morning, and my brain is still hurting a bit.  It's like a non-stop heavy escalator, and my mind had a hard time wrapping around that at 5:00 am.   I kept feeling like I was going to fall off/get sucked under or something.  But anyway, Hey Fridayyyyyyyyy!
--
This song is starting to get some real airtime and I'm so happy.  I love this band!!!

They are from Iceland so it's unlikely I'll ever get to see them live, but I would love that.
Speaking of live music, I went to go purchase our tickets to The Killers and realized that they are $50 General Admission!  GA tickets to Family Circle Cup means sitting super high, having a hike to get a drink/use the restroom.  It's outdoors in August, and it's a Tuesday night.  So, I'm rethinking this.
--
Next up: Google, what have you done with my Gmail!?  I want my one inbox back!!!
This is not my screen shot but I'd like to answer "No" to email # 3.
--
I was sifting through some old photos and found this receipt on which I am referred to as "Devil Ears Gurl".

This would be so much funnier if it wasn't after a Halloween party when I was, in fact, wearing devil horns.
--
Look at this beautiful baroque pearl pendant that my mom gave to me:

I love how the irregular shape makes it a little less traditional.

Now! Time to get through work and on to the weekend!
Hope it's a great one :)

Thoughts on Tuesday!

Hello everyone!
What's happening on your Tuesday morning?  It kinda stinks because there was a hopeful 30 seconds earlier when I really thought it was Wednesday.
I'm looking forward to the coming weekend.  We are planning to try out Kiawah's Music on the Green Friday evening, and then there is a LeaMond Family Reunion Saturday.  I'm vowing to keep Sunday low key, but for now here are some Tuesday thoughts!
--
Over the weekend my mom and I got pink and white tips done:
It's weird, anytime I get fake nails I get tired of them really quick, but then when I get them removed I want them again.  Mind games!
--
I was browsing through Marshalls the other day and came across this fun product:
Y'all. Where was this during my hormonal highschool years??  Shoot! I could still use them when wearing certain fabrics.  I used to feel like I was the only girl who really sweat and then when I got to college 2 of my suitemates shared the same issue.  Where my drysol girls at?
You know who you are. :)
--
My mom told me this weekend that she scored a confessional from the Monastery yard sale for $10!  I call that a score, she calls it a new "conversation piece".
Another one of her yard sale finds, which she kindly gifted me:

Turns out I've been reading the wrong book for this week's Book Club meeting.
I got the author right atleast!

I suppose we can simply discuss Miss Andrew's writing style?  What can I say, it's been a doozy of a couple weeks over here. Cut me some slack!

That's all for now, hope your day is fab.

The Cutest Baby Shower Game Ever!

Have you seen this game before?
I haven't been to that many baby showers, and this game just tickled me so much!  Four of my friends put on a shower for Jennifer, whose little Sally Ann will be here before we know it.  Here are a few more pics from the adorable party:
Great job ladies,
and Congrats to Jennifer and Beaufort!

After the Rain

Did you see the gorgeous rainbow Saturday afternoon?
This picture doesn't even begin to capture it, but I left my camera at home.
And after a particularly stormy weekend, it was nice to be reminded that there's always a break in the clouds, a bright side!

Hey Friday!

We had our favorite meal last night! I know I've mentioned it before, but if you've never had Cedar Plank Salmon you absolutely MUST make it. I do not exaggerate when I tell you that it's the best thing I've ever tasted.
(Disclaimer: I really love salmon to begin with.)
Last night over dinner, K and I were discussing humor and it's different forms. See, I made a comment yesterday in a business meeting and was completely delighted when a woman actually laughed out loud. I find myself laughing alone more often than not, I have a "unique" opinion on what's funny... I've come to the conclusion over the years that my humor is centered around both wit and irony.
Mentioning this, K remarked "But you don't like sarcasm, and that's basically the same as irony". I started to really think about this.  Because they are very similar, synonyms even! But are they really?
As stated, I'm not a fan of sarcasm. Sarcasm is, by definition, a remark intended to hurt someone, to make a jab. It's a blanketed insult. I know that sarcastic people tend to think they're just being witty or sharp, but I find it jarring and hurtful. I'm not saying this to criticize, just to call attention to the fact that sarcasm can hurt people, when I think the general impression is that it's harmless. Just sayin' :)
Irony, on the other hand, is defined by the use of words to express something different from and often opposite to their literal meaning.  I do think that irony is a way of making a frustrating situation seem a little less so, an "It could be worse" sort of mindset.  This is something I think is not only helpful, but necessary, when it comes to dealing with the world around me!
What do you think about the differences between the two??
End Rant.

I know it's a bit far off, but wouldn't this dress (from F21) be fab on a mild September evening?
It's not very summery but I want it!

Sidenote: I would LOVE to grow my hair out as long as this!

I attended a strategic planning meeting at Our Lady of Mercy Outreach this week,
We are always looking for volunteers!

Alright y'all, forecast calls for a weekend filled with this:

Have a great one!

Humpity Hump (A Quicky)

Happy Wednesday! First things first, a question: When buying a gift for a baby shower, Is it better to stick to the registry or pick something out yourself? I like shopping for gifts and giving it my personal touch but I'm curious what y'all think is proper etiquette?
--
My man scooped me up from work and took me out to lunch today!  I rarely take a lunch, but it was so nice spending some time together mid-day.
--
Good Afternoon Etsy Shoppers!  We are having a sale on our special wine corks, $15.00!
Click here to buy one for yourself or a friend!

Look at my lipsy silk scarf!
Til next time, Muah!

Movin' on up & More!

I am moving into one of our upstairs offices at work this week so this is what my day looks like:

I guess it was all going a little too nice at the house because around 3 am on July 5th, I awoke in a sweat.  Our AC had decided to give out!  This definitely set the tone for a bummer of a weekend because my repairman was out of town and we decided to wait it out for him to return and stay at my parents until he could fix it Monday morning.
It was a looooong weekend, but sadly not in a good way...never thought I'd say that!
But good news, we spent last night snuggled in our cool bedroom, watching a new favorite, Inside Amy Shumer.  It's a tad vulgar for my taste, but it has some ridiculously funny moments:
Oh, here is my OOTD:

Top and shoes are Liz Claiborne, when Isaac Mizrahi ran the show.  Skirt is from Steinmart in 2006.

And Oh my Lord, when did Country take hold of me?

Lastly, this little cutie stopped by the dealership with her owner and brightened up my day!  I don't know why but I like a pomeranian with a haircut over the poofy look.
That's all I've got to say for now.  Honestly I'm still just trying to get back into my routine after such a discombobulating weekend.  I hope y'all had a happy holiday!

Humpity Hump

Hey y'all!
Check out my new handbag from The Limited.  I think it's perfect for late summer... I'm still currently using my D&B satchel from our auction haul this February.

--
Yum Yum Yum, dinner is cooking itself at home right now:
--
Lots of invitations going out today!  One of my favorite aspects of my job...
--
One more thing: I saw a commercial for this new comedy coming to ABC this fall called "The Goldbergs".  It's set in the 80's which is just the best, right?!

Happy Fourth of July everyone! Catch ya later.

Well humbug! The library is trying to charge me $26.00 for a book that I returned back in June.  I've just got to get to the bottom of this!

  • Safe Haven
  • The Best Of Me
  • The Longest Ride
Next up:

So this past Friday night I had such a hankering for something sweet with absolutely no desserts in sight.  Enter the 10:00 pm cookie bake:
I only made a dozen and I promise you they were gone by Saturday morning.
On that note, our fridge was down to bare bones this weekend y'all.
I'm talking tortillas, jello, and condiments.
But I've gone grocery shopping since, and I even bought everything to make these Cheater beans for the Fourth of July!
Speaking of, what you got planned?
We are going to have a mini cookout at our neighborhood park, and try and watch some fireworks from the little dock there.  All of this is weather willing.
I swear I am using this as the title of my autobiography if this rain doesn't stop soon:
And last, I just thought it would be fun to share my dad's invention from the 90's.  Unfortunately it didn't sweep the office supply world as we know it, but still very cool none the less.

Today is like my Thursday and I'm so thankful for that,
Have a good one friends!
xoxo
